in York, Pennsyvania

The Federation of Fire Chaplains is offering a regional fire chaplain training event this Summer. Fire and Emergency Services Chaplains, or anyone interested in this ministry are invited to attend. This two-day event will offer excellent training for emergency services chaplains with the FFC Essentials of Fire Chaplaincy course. 

Essentials of Fire Chaplaincy

A fourteen hour course designed as a “Survey of Fire Chaplaincy”. It is appropriate for new chaplains, experienced chaplains, and those who just want to learn what fire chaplaincy is all about. The course includes classes in:

Foundations of Fire Chaplaincy

Personhood of the Fire Chaplain

Ministry to Firefighters

Ministry to Fire Victims

Critical Incident Stress

Fire Department Funerals

Fire Chaplain Operations, and many others. 

This course serves as the foundation for credit with the Federation of Fire Chaplains.

CH T. Blake Bowers is Ordained through the Evangelical Association of Christian and Reformed Churches. He is a US Army Chaplain, retired, serving 22 years. He is a Master Chaplain Instructor with the Federation of Fire Chaplains, Chaplain to the Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association, Del-Mar-Va Volunteer Firemen’s Association, Kent County Volunteer Firefighter’s Association, Kent County Fire Chief’s Association, Citizens Hose Fire Co., No 1, Inc., Smyrna, DE, where he is a Life Member of 40 years. He has served as treasurer of CHC and as a Director. He also is the Kent County Coordinator for the Delaware Critical Incident Stress Management Team.

The Rev. John F. Long, Jr. is the Secretary for the Federation of Fire Chaplains. He presently serves as the Chief Chaplain to the Maryland State Firemen’s Association, and Chaplain to the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association and the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. He also serves on the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Maryland L.A.S.T. team. John is a Nationally certified Fire Officer III, and Fire Instructor III. He has served in all fire line officers positions including three years as a Volunteer Chief. Certified in Spiritual Care in Crisis Intervention through the ICISF.
