    KEVIN ELLERS, D.MIN. is the territorial Disaster Services and Chaplaincy Director for the Salvation Army in the U.S>A> Central Territory.  He is also President and Founder of the Institute for Compassionate Care and Reset Life Coaching  which is dedicated to equine assisted coaching for personal and professional growth and trauma healing, consultation, education, and direct care.  Kevin is a Chaplain with the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police, serves as faculty for the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, and was an Adjunct Professor at Olivet Nazarene University. He has extensive training and experience in Crisis Response, Disaster Chaplaincy, Pastoral Ministries, Marriage & Family Threapy, Coaching and Social Services. As an author and speaker, Kevin teaches broadly on the previously mentioned topics. He is author or co-author o: The First 48 Hours; Spiritual Caregivers as First Responders; Grief Following Trauma; Emotional and Spiritual Carein Disasters; Spiritual and Psychological First Aid; Understanding Suicide; Effective Tools for Prevention.

    The "Essentials of Fire Chaplaincy" is a two-day, foundational training course for the fire department chaplain. This two-day course is the basis for training recognition by the Federation of Fire Chaplains and earns the student a certificate from the FFC upon completion. U.S. Fire Departments are now using this FFC training as the standard for fire chaplaincy across the country, allowing chaplains to minister within the fire service wherever life takes them.

    This is a two-day course designed as a “Survey of Fire Chaplaincy”. It is appropriate for new chaplains, experienced chaplains, and those who just want to learn what fire chaplaincy is all about. The course includes classes in Ministry to Firefighters, Ministry to People in Crisis, Helping Firefighters Manage Stress, Fire Department Funerals, Fire Chaplain Operations, and others. This course serves as the foundation for credit with the Federation of Fire Chaplains.

    This course is HIGHLY recommended by and for fire/rescue chaplains throughout the world. For members of the FFC, this course is the one that provides the foundation for our FFC Advanced Training Certificates.

    THE ESSENTIALS OF FIRE CHAPLAINCY COURSE

    This course, created by the Federation of Fire Chaplains, provides an opportunity for everyone – experienced chaplains, new chaplains, and prospective chaplains alike – to learn valuable lessons about Fire Chaplaincy. The class consists of 16 hours of instruction, over the course of two days, covering the following areas:

    • The Foundations of Fire Chaplaincy

    • Personhood of the Fire Chaplain

    • Fire Chaplain’s Ministry to Firefighters

    • Fire Chaplain’s Ministry to Crisis Victims

    • Beginning a Fire Department Chaplaincy

    • Stress Management

    • Firefighter Injury or Death / Death Notification
